FIJI Football Association chief executive officer Mohammed Yusuf has confirmed that only four players returned positive results during recent drug testing conducted during competitions.
Mr Mohammed said the association carried out routine testing and found no major issues apart from the few cases recorded.
‘We also conducted drug testing. There were no issues, only four cases last week, but in the senior division we found one positive case. We will deal with it,” he said.
He did not provide further details on the individuals involved but confirmed that the matter will be handled according to the association’s disciplinary processes.
He said the Fiji Football Association would now shift focus to its next major tournament, the Battle of the Giants, which will be held in Ba in September.
“We will see everyone back in Ba in September for the Battle of the Giants,” he said.
When asked about the possibility of bringing more tournaments back to Labasa, he said they remains committed to spreading competitions across the country.
“Sure, we are indebted to the people at all levels, they really support football, and Fiji Football will come back. Definitely.”
He said the strong support from northern fans continues to make Labasa a key venue for football events in Fiji.
