THE former director of People’s Community Network (PCN) Semiti Qalowasa has pleaded not guilty to the charge laid against him.

Mr Qalowasa appeared at the Suva Magistrates Court yesterday.

The Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission (FCCC) had taken Mr Qalowasa to court and charged him with one count of failure to furnish information.

It is alleged that between January 17, 2019, and January 23, 2019, Mr Qalowasa failed to furnish full information, records, and copies which were issued by way of requisition for information notice no: FCCC-R101475.

Mr Qalowasa had earlier pleaded guilty to the charge after a notice of motion was filed by the defence to vacate his guilty plea which was granted by Magistrate Deepika Prakash.

In court yesterday, defence lawyer Lisiate Qetaki sought time to liaise with FCCC in regards to pre-trial conference issues.

Mr Qetaki said they would be in a position to furnish information by September 12 in relation to the number of witnesses they would be calling during the trial.

FCCC lawyer Kelepi Gauna said there were no admissions in the caution interview.

Mr Qalowasa had his bail extended.

The case has been adjourned to September 12.
