The Fiji National University’s Naiyaca Campus in Labasa will officially be renamed Ratu Wiliame Katonivere Campus from today, in honour of the Tui Macuata and former President of Fiji, Ratu Wiliame Katonivere.
Ratu Wiliame will also officiate at the groundbreaking ceremony for the campus, marking another significant milestone in the university’s expansion in the Northern Division.
The event will be the second groundbreaking ceremony held for the Labasa campus, highlighting FNU’s continued commitment to developing modern educational facilities in the North.
The campus serves students from across Vanua Levu and nearby islands.
The campus currently offers programmes through three of the university’s colleges: the College of Humanities and Education, the College of Business, Hospitality and Tourism Studies, and the College of Engineering, Science and Technology.
The official renaming and groundbreaking ceremony are expected to bring together university officials, government representatives, traditional leaders, students and members of the public to celebrate the next phase of the campus’ development.
