THE Fiji National Rugby League held its final trials for the national women’s 9s team for the Pacific Games in Samoa in July in Nadi last Friday.

A good turnout was recorded with Vodafone Fiji Bati head Brandon Costin also present to witness the women in action.

FNRL board chairman Peni Musunamasi said preparations for the Pacific Games was going on well.

Musunamasi revealed the Fiji Bati and the national women’s team would be playing Test matches in June.

“Things are on target,” he said.

“The selection of the players for the Pacific Games will be done before the end of the month. The national teams will also travel to Sydney, Australia to play Test matches. The Fiji Bati will take on Lebanon.

“For this, the local-based players will be joined by the overseas-based players who are available for the Test match. It is the middle of the season in Australia so whichever players are available there, we will use their services.

“The national women’s team will play Papua New Guinea and the Cook Islands.”
