Five K-9s graduated yesterday from the Fiji Police Dog Unit at Nasese in Suva.

They are K-9 Spike, K-9 Lola, K-9 Simba, K-9 Princess and K-9 Raja who graduated after three months of training in-country.

Fiji Police Chief of Planning and Internal Affairs Officer (CPIAO) Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Aporosa Lutunauga said the graduation was an extraordinary event since they were able to conduct the training at Nasese instead of going abroad.

“The Fiji Police Force looks forward to the resumption of training opportunities in New Zealand under the partnership program which focuses of the development and capabilities of our K-9 Unit” said ACP Lutunauga.

Three of the five K-9s will be deployed to the Western Division.

“We are all aware of the critical contributions of our K-9s towards our organization. These Dogs are Police assets and they are a vital tool to our law enforcement. They are trained to assist and combat crime.”
