LAST year’s finalists will meet again in the Extra Fiji Secondary Schools Football Championship Under-15 final after AD Patel College edged Labasa College 4-3 on penalties at Subrail Park yesterday.
AD Patel held its nerve in the semi-final shootout to earn another chance at the title and a rematch with Lautoka Central College.
The two schools also met in last year’s final, with Lautoka Central College winning 2-0.
AD Patel coach Avinesh Kumar said his players had improved since that defeat and were ready for another challenge against Lautoka Central.
“Central College have won 2-0. So, we are back. We have improved from last year. We are ready now to take on Central College,” he said.
The coach praised his players for their effort against a Labasa side he described as one of the best teams they had faced in the competition.
“Labasa College was a very tough team, but the boys have given their heart. I am very proud of the boys,” he said.
He admitted there were mistakes in the semi-final but said the team would review its performance before the final.
“We will look into it today and we are ready for the finals,” he said.
The coach said he was proud of his players for giving their best.
“They have given their heart out today,” he said.
