ANDREW Durutalo has returned to Fiji after 20 years to take up the role of Head of Men’s High Performance with Fiji Rugby.
Durutalo will oversee the men’s player and coach pathway, covering the Fiji Under-18s, Under-20s, Fiji Men’s 7s and Flying Fijians.
His role will focus on identifying and developing talent while strengthening the pathway from age-grade rugby to the senior national teams.
Fiji Rugby General Manager High-Performance Naca Cawanibuka said Durutalo’s international experience and understanding of Fijian rugby would be valuable to the organisation.
“Andrew brings a unique combination of international playing experience, high-performance leadership and global sports administration,” Cawanibuka said.
“He also understands Fiji, our rugby culture and the enormous potential that exists within our player and coach pathways.”
Durutalo said he was grateful to Fiji Rugby for trusting him with the role and giving him the opportunity to contribute to the development of high performance in the country.
“It’s been a great pleasure to return home after 20 years since I left Fiji from the same high-performance unit,” Durutalo said.
“I’m looking forward to working with the coaches, the staff and everybody here at Fiji Rugby.”
He will work closely with national team coaches and Fiji Rugby’s performance, medical and development departments to strengthen the pathway for future national players and coaches.
