FijiFirst Party executives have handed in their resignations as party members citing ‘compromised Parliamentary procedures’, as a reason.

The members who have resigned includes party leader and founder Voreqe Bainimarama, former attorney general Aiyaz Sayed Khaiyum, second party founder Sailesh Kumar, pesident Ratu Joji Satakala, vice president Adi Selai Adimaitoga, vice president Ravindran Kumaran, treasurer Hem Chand and acting general secretary Faiyaz Koya.

However, in an interview, Mr Sayed-Khaiyum said Mr Koya would remain a Parliament member.

“The Parliamentary system has been being compromised with the 17 members and it’s like a political ploy for them to keep their seats,” he said.

Mr Khaiyum said FICAC officers also searched his house and law firm.

He also said that Mr Koya’s house was searched as well.

“We all resigned last Friday and Mr Bainimarama never compromised his principles and we won’t compromise the Party principles.”
