The Fiji Men’s Netball team continues its unbeaten run in the Men’s Invitational Series after a thrashing win 79-18 against Tonga at the Vodafone Arena in Suva last night.

Head coach Jioweli Vakamoce says the team is working hard to correct early mistakes and strengthen combinations leading to their final game tonight.

Despite the 57-18 win on the opening day, Vakamoce revealed that the side had reviewed their first match and identified several areas needing improvement.

The team managed to adapt to new tactical patterns being introduced this season and had delivered well in their second match last night.

“We have analyzed and talked about what we did on the first day because the points are less than what we always give Tonga. We have retouched everything again from yesterday and the team have executed well in the court,” he said.

He stressed that the challenge for the players is maintaining focus under pressure during matches.

“The issue is we need players to have that in their mind. When you are on court there are emotions, reactions, and we need to keep training them to focus on what we are implementing.”

Looking ahead, Vakamoce admitted the matches would be a significant test, especially against a familiar Pacific rival.

Despite the challenges, the coach remains optimistic that the side is gradually building cohesion.

“I think we are getting there. After our training sessions before the match, we are always ready, but we will only know the outcome when we take the court.”

Vakamoce also acknowledged the strong public support, praising fans who turned up despite wet conditions.
