THE South Pacific Boxing Promotion will hold two more Boxing Commission of Fiji title fights in April.

The main bout will be between Ratu Rakuro Dauvavana and Franco Fraser in the welterweight title contest and the main supporting bout will be in the bantamweight between the Samal Ram Anuj and Rahul Kumar.

Boxing Commission of Fiji West director Usman Ali Lale yesterday confirmed the title fights would be hosted by South Pacific Boxing Promotion since no other promoters had applied to host a program.

“We have received the application by the South Pacific Boxing and the program has been sanctioned to be held in Lautoka.”

South Pacific Boxing director Mohammed Shameen said the title contests would be a good opportunity for the boxers to showcase their talents.

He said Dauvavana has been given another chance to battle for the welterweight title after Ronald Naidu produced a sick sheet on the night of the fight early this month.

“We want to promote quality fights and that is the reason we are giving Rakuro another shot at the title,” said Shameen.

“We will have two title fights and we are confident of a good show.”

He said he would later host the light heavyweight title rematch between Joseph Kwadjo and Savenaca Naliva in June.

“But in our next promotion, we will also give chances for other boxers that didn’t feature in our last promotion. We are doing this to help the boxers get the much-needed game time.”

The April program will be held at Tilak High School hall.
