FICAC charges two with bribery

FICAC has charged two National Fire Authority (NFA) officers from the Lautoka Fire Station with bribery.

NFA operations sub-officer Josefa Tora and structural fire safety sub-officer Inoke Raleba appeared in the Lautoka Magistrates Court charged with bribery and aiding and abetting.

According to FICAC, Mr Tora was charged with three counts of soliciting an advantage and seven of soliciting and accepting an advantage while Mr Raleba was charged with one count of aiding and abetting.

Mr Tora is alleged to have solicited $670 from businesses in the Western Division between January 1 and March 30 last year.

The operations sub-officer is also alleged to have accepted close to $1500 from businesses from November 2020 to February last year.

Meanwhile, Mr Raleba is alleged to have aided and abetted Mr Tora in acquiring the financial advantage.

In court, the pair was granted bail with a $500 surety each and their case adjourned to June 27.
