THE Fiji Commerce and Employers Federation (FCEF) and Fiji’s Roving Ambassador to the Pacific Islands Ratu Tui Cavuilati today hosted Pacific Island countries’ embassy and high commission representatives to a briefing on the Fiji Declaration and the MBA 4 Climate in the Pacific Region.
It was part of FCEF’s efforts to seek the support of Pacific Island governments for the participation of their business communities (private sector) in the Global Employers’ Forum of which Fiji was the only member from the Pacific.
At the end of a presentation by FCEF president Sandeep Chauhan, Ratu Tui said: “As you’ve heard the FCEF president outlining the work they are doing in respect of promoting the private sector’s participation in climate change initiatives, we hope that this will enable you to seek your governments’ support for your participation in this global forum.”
The briefing was attended by the High Commissioner of Tuvalu Temate Melitiana, Acting High Commissioner of Kiribati Mary Meita, third secretary of Solomon Islands Ellison Mason, First secretary of Nauru Josieann Jacob, and the deputy Charge D’Affairs of FSM Wilson Waguk, with members of Cop 23 Secretariat, government officials and other stakeholder organisations.
