THE family of Prem Chand is mourning his death after he was fatally injured in an alleged stabbing incident in Labasa early on Sunday morning.
Mr Chand, of Korowiri, Labasa, died from injuries believed to have been sustained during the attack.
He was found lying in a pool of blood along Rara Avenue at about 2.30am and was rushed to Labasa Hospital, where he later died.
Police said a suspect was in custody and investigations were continuing.
On Facebook, a Ishwar Prasad described Mr Chand as a devoted family man and respected educator.
“It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Mr Chand, director of Northern Premier Music Centre and a music teacher at the multicultural centre,” he said.
Mr Prasad said Mr Chand was the youngest son of Mr and Mrs Shiu Prasad of Korokadi, Bua.
He is survived by his wife, Lila Wati, and their only son.
