Prefects of St Joseph the Worker Primary School were all smiles when they were inducted to serve the school during this academic year.

In front of parents, teachers and students, over 50 students were called to take leadership roles and help teachers guide students through another school year.

Leading the prefects are head boy, Alosio David Tuitau and head girl Miriama Glenda Taroga.

Tuitau, who hails from Serea, Naitasiri, was happy to be given the opportunity to lead a big school.

The 13-year-old said he was proud to be selected as head boy.

“I thank God for this amazing opportunity as it’s a great accomplishment not only for myself, but for my family,” he said.

“I hope to set a good example during my time as head boy.”

Taroga, who hails from Somosomo, Taveuni reiterated what Tuitau said that she also hopes to lead by example during this academic year.

“I’m thankful towards God for this opportunity and to the teachers for trusting me with this incredible role,” she said.

“I hope to set a good example to other students at the school and be a good role model.

“I hope that the prefects will help us be good heads of the school.”
