THE Fiji Bula Boys overcame a tough Vanuatu team to win 1-0 and lift the MSG Prime Minister’s Cup at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva last night.
It was Thomas Dunn who became the toast of the side after he found the back of the net in the 10th minute and the goal gave Fiji an opportunity to keep a firm grip on the game’s progression for the next 80 minutes.
The Ni-Vans searched endlessly for an equaliser to make their mark known in aiming to cement a comeback with it however the Roy Krishna-captained team pulled no punches in aiming to shut them out from finding the back of their net.
Speaking to elated fans after the match, captain Roy Krishna praised the team and credited them for a job well done.
The seasoned footballer also acknowledged teammate Tevita Waranivalu for the work done in helping the side clinch victory last night.
Krishna also thanked fans who came out to cheer on them throughout the competition, made more special with lifting the grand prize on home soil.
“We knew how much we wanted to win at home,” he told fans at the stadium who responded with resounding applause and cheers.
Fiji’s victory of this year’s MSG contest means an added silverware to the team’s trophy cabinet and once the dust settles, all eyes will now shift its focus to the 2026 FMF Inter-District Championship which kicks off next Tuesday at the same venue.
The Bula Boys will now head into their various IDC team camps to begin preparing themselves adequately for the largest football tournament in the country.
