STATE lawyers have discontinued its case against former Fiji Airways driver Neumi Donumainasava, accepting that he was just an informant in the case of alleged illegal importation of more than 5 kilograms of methamphetamine in Nadi last year.
Mr Donumainasava was charged alongside Nigerian national Chukwemeka Phabian and Narcotics Bureau police officers Apenisa Matadigo and Uraia Bolalailai.
This is the second nolle prosequi application filed by Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions John Rabuku during the trial.
The State also discontinued its case against Fiji Revenue and Customs Services chief customs officer Osea Raicama Dakai on Tuesday.
Appearing before Justice Aruna Alluthge yesterday, Mr Rabuku informed the court the State intended to file a nolle prosequi for Mr Donumainasava because it was becoming clear to the State that his involvement was purely an informant providing information to Mr Dakai of an illegal shipment of meth.
Still on trial are Mr Phabian and suspended police officers Mr Matadigo and Mr Bolalailai.
The trial continues today.
