After their painful 18-21 home loss to Kadavu last week, Vinod Patel Ba now have a do-or-die match v Lautoka today at 4R Stadium, Govind Park, with the losers possibly relegated to the Vanua Championship next year.
Or do they?
The competition regulations have a grey area as to how the relegation/promotion works. Do the bottom two teams (currently Rewa and Kadavu) go down? Or does everyone stay up and the Skipper Cup increases in size to 14 teams?
At time of going to press, this issue still had a question mark circling over it like a half vulture, half dove of peace.
Lautoka and Kadavu have 20 points in 10th and 11th, Ba 21 in ninth. Kadavu are away to Nadroga.
Vinod Patel Ba do not want to take any chances and still have a shot of reaching the Quarter-finals with a strong performance against Lautoka if other results go their way.
Navosa and Taveuni can still be caught. They take on Suva and Tailevu, respectively.
Ba have called for the cavalry in the shape of Flying Fijian Isoa Tuwai and Fiji 7s star Waisea Nacuqu, who bolster a side that already includes Toge brothers Iliavi Masori and Joji Nasova.
Gates open at 10am today with the U20s kicking off at 11am, the Women at 1pm then the main game at 3pm.
