THE Warwick Navosa Rugby Union must deliver 80 minutes of disciplined rugby if it hopes to overcome Fresh Choice Tailevu this Saturday at 3pm, at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva and continue its historic debut campaign in the Skipper Cup competition.

Director of Rugby Selo Sanawa believes the team’s ability to remain composed, minimise mistakes and convert scoring opportunities will be crucial to its chances of progressing.

“We have identified areas that require improvement, and we have been honest in our assessment of our performances throughout the season,” he said.

“Defensively, our focus has been on maintaining our structure, improving our communication, and ensuring that every player understands their role within the system.”

With Tailevu finishing second in the standings, Sanawa expects a physical and intense contest.

However, he said Navosa would not abandon its own approach and would aim to impose its style of rugby through organisation, discipline and execution.

He said players had been reminded to remain focused on their individual responsibilities and support one another when things did not go according to plan.

Sanawa said the team had also been preparing to maintain its intensity throughout the match, with the contribution of the bench expected to be important as the game progressed.

He said the coaching team was focused on selecting a balanced squad capable of delivering the physicality, work rate and tactical discipline required for the quarterfinal.

Player availability and final selection would depend on the coaching team’s assessment of fitness, recovery and medical clearance.

He said progressing further would be significant for the players, management and everyone that had backed the team throughout the season.

The Navosa Rugby Union extended their appreciation to their stakeholders, supporters and the wider Navosa community.

The message to his players is clear: stay disciplined, trust the system and compete until the final whistle.
