WEDDING anniversary plans were tragically turned into funeral preparations after the brutal and mysterious death of a Narere taxidriver on Sunday.
Sanjani Radhika and her husband Edward Anil Raj were looking forward to celebrating their 27th wedding anniversary this Friday until the gruesome discovery of his body in a plantation in Nausori.
She said every year on their wedding anniversary her husband would get a cake, she would cook and they would sit together as a family and share a meal.
“But this time I will be burying my Eddie,” Ms Radhika said. She said his last words to her last Sunday was “I’m going to work and will be back soon”.
Ms Radhika said she started feeling restless after he failed to return home before 11pm. She said her husband had left his phone for their granddaughter to use, which was not unusual.
Ms Radhika said on Monday morning she called his friends but received no word of his whereabouts.
She said she even told her daughter to stop reading news updates after she said a man’s body had been discovered in Nausori.
The mother of four said she had no idea it was her husband. “He was our sole breadwinner and was looking after 12 people in our family home in Narere this included my mother, my nieces and nephews and his mother as well.
“I am pleading with anyone who has any information about my husband’s death to please come forward.”
Ms Radhika said her husband’s taxi was found abandoned near Jittu Estate but his body was found in a tavioka plantation at Natuatua settlement in Rewa.
Police stated investigators would await the post-mortem examination result as investigations continued.
