The Constitution Review Commission Report 2026 will be made publicly available following its tabling in Parliament today, Speaker Filimone Jitoko has confirmed.
Mr Jitoko told Parliament the report had been tabled for information and would not be referred to a standing committee.
“Honourable members, take further note that pursuant to Standing Order 38(3), the report must now be made available to the public,” Mr Jitoko said.
“I have instructed the Secretary-General for the necessary uploading of the report and its annexures onto the parliamentary website.”
The report was tabled during a special sitting of Parliament today. The sitting had been called specifically for the tabling of the Constitution Review Commission’s report and is separate from the regular parliamentary sitting scheduled from September 28 to October 2.
Mr Jitoko said MPs would also receive the complete report and its accompanying annexures.
“Given the substantial size of the report and its accompanying annexures, each member will be provided with a USB containing the report and all the annexures immediately after adjournment,” he said.
He said Parliament’s secretariat would also attempt to distribute electronic copies to MPs by email, although this would depend on technical limitations and whether the files could be sufficiently compressed.
“The secretariat appreciates honourable members’ understanding, and we will make every effort to ensure that the documents are made available as promptly and conveniently as possible to each and every member,” Mr Jitoko said.
The report and Draft Constitution were submitted to President Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu on August 31 following the Commission’s review process. The Government has previously stressed that tabling the report does not amount to accepting or adopting all of the Commission’s recommendations.
