The Special Committee on the Constitution (Amendment) Bill 2026 met for the second time in two days today as it prepares to begin public consultations on the proposed constitutional changes.

The committee is finalising preparations ahead of consultations scheduled to begin tomorrow at the Suva Civic Centre.

In a statement issued today, Parliament said the consultations would provide an opportunity for individuals, organisations, institutions and communities to share their views, raise concerns and make submissions on the proposed amendments.

The consultations form part of the committee’s deliberations on the Bill, which proposes changes to Fiji’s constitutional and governance framework.

Members of the public are encouraged to participate in the consultations, ask questions and express their views on the proposed changes.

The committee’s latest meeting follows its sitting yesterday, with preparations continuing ahead of the public engagement process.
