Fiji Police Commissioner Brigadier-General Sitiveni Qiliho spoke proudly to his Police Constables after their gold medal win at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games last month.
He hosted Kalione Nasoko and Waisea Nacuqu at the Police headquarters this morning.
“You made us proud knowing the Fiji Police Force was represented at the Olympics and your team’s efforts brought so much joy during a difficult period in our nation’s history as we battled COVID-19,” Brig-Gen Qiliho said.
Police Constable Waisea Nacuqu had always dreamt of becoming a Police officer and was grateful for the opportunity to pursue both his dream and passion of playing rugby.
Born and raised in Votua Village, Ba, the 28-year-old has maternal links to Yaqeta Village in the Yasawa Island; and he said being a Police officer was a noble profession and he got a lot of respect from members of the community.
For Kalioni Nasoko, representing his country has always been a dream and he was glad to be part of the Olympic Rugby Sevens team to Japan this year.
The 30-year-old from Waya Levu Village in Yawasa said that his determination and faith in God had been key to his success.
“After I was injured three years ago, I missed out on several tournaments and everyone thought that my playing days were over, but silently I worked my way back to the team,” said PC Nasoko.
PC Nasoko is based at Lautoka Police Station, and he said joining the Fiji Police Force was also a childhood dream and he is grateful for the opportunity to serve the people.
