A global hybrid vehicles spare parts company established in Lautoka a year ago is catering for the needs of some families who are in desperate situation during this COVID-19 crisis in the Sugar City.

Yuri Global Engineering (Fiji) Pte Ltd Fiji director Dhurup Chand said 11 per cent of the profit made from their first year of business had been directed solely towards the needy and those with special needs.

“We have assisted 80 families already in the past three weeks of lockdown and most are for needy families who have been without work and those we assist monthly,” Mr Chand said.

“We have at least used up $20, 000 of the company’s profit to assist people with special needs and needy families.

“I have seen that families are really struggling, so many are without work and there are those with special needs who urgently needed assistance in terms of medicines, diapers and food.”

Mr Chand said the company’s ‘give back to the community initiative’ was a blessing in disguise as it came in handy at this time when many people were in dire need to survive daily.

He added they had also received calls from those outside the Lautoka containment area, however, they would only be able to assist these families once restrictions would be eased.

The Lautoka resident added the company would continue to invest in needy families and particularly people with special needs that always needed assistance.

Yuri Global Engineering Pte Ltd specialises in hybrid vehicles Japanese spare parts and is based in Japan with branches in England and Fiji.
