The 17th Session of the Codex Committee for North America and South West Pacific Region CCNASWP is underway in Nadi this week.

Opening the event this morning, Minister for Agriculture Vatimi Rayalu said the meet signified the region’s commitment to food safety in the face of emerging trends.

Mr Rayalu said food safety was not just a regional concern it was a global priority that represented one of the most pressing challenges in trade, public health, and consumer protection.

“As dedicated members of the CCNASWP region, we stand united in a rich history that underscores the purpose of our committee, established 36 years ago. This mission remains as vital today as it was then, focusing on ensuring food safety for our region and generations to come,” said Mr Rayalu.

The weeklong meeting will end this Friday.
