Acting Commissioner of Police Juki Fong Chew says investigations into the raid of an incomplete house in Nadi where three tonnes of meth were found will determine if occupants were warned before the bust.

When grilled on why the usually occupied house was vacant on the day of the raid, Mr Chew said their inquiry would determine if people were tipped off.

“The house was vacant,” he said. “Police acted on a tip off which prompted the raid.

“We are not sure if the occupants were warned, but our investigation is still ongoing which may determine all this.”

He said the drug raid was also based on a tip off from a suspect. “The interrogation method used by our police officers on a suspect led to this tip off and raid conducted.”

In an earlier statement, the Acting Commissioner warned perpetrators they would be dealt with the full brunt of the law.

“Our fight against drugs continues and we are there trying to make our country free from drugs.

“The fight continues in the form of raids and awareness through the media or from our community policing officers in settlements and schools.”
