THE Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) scholarship registrations will close on April 30.

This was highlighted by Indian High Commissioner to Fiji Suneet Mehta at the 96th TISI Sangam Annual Convention in Ba on Friday.

Mr Mehta said the ICCR scholarships were fully funded.

“ICCR scholarships are not only a chance to gain world-class education, but a platform to bring positive change in professional careers,” he said.

“The fully-funded scholarships are available across a wide range of academic discipline, including engineering, science, agriculture, humanities, arts, music, commerce, economics, law, philosophy, languages, dance and fine arts.”

He added the scholarship had empowered thousands of students worldwide to pursue higher education in India.

“Fiji has been a key partner in this journey, over the years thousands of Fijian students and youths, including many of Indian descent have received fully funded ICCR scholarships.

“For many studying in India it has been a personal journey, a reconnection with their ancestral roots.

“ICCR alumnae in Fiji have made their mark across all sectors, as members of Parliament, senior civil servants, educators, entrepreneurs, journalists, lawyers and artists.”

Mr Mehta said they celebrated the 75th anniversary of ICCR last week, adding that it was a significant milestone and a key initiative of the Government of India.
