The 2026 crushing season will begin this Wednesday at the Lautoka, Rarawai and Labasa sugar mills.
In a statement, the Fiji Sugar Corporation (FSC) requested sugarcane farmers across the three milling sectors to begin harvesting operations from Tuesday, in line with schedules coordinated by their respective sector offices.
“FSC has been working closely with growers, harvesting contractors, industry partners, and relevant stakeholders to ensure operational readiness for the start of the season,” FSC said.
“The corporation acknowledges the efforts of growers and all industry participants in preparing for the new season and looks forward to a safe, productive, and successful harvest and crushing period.”
FSC has also urged growers and harvesting teams to observe industry guidelines and safety requirements throughout the season.
The season was initially scheduled to begin at the Rarawai mill on June 16, with the Labasa mill to follow on June 17.
However, FSC said an assessment found that the required number of harvesting gangs were not ready to support the efficient start of milling operations.
