Cane crushing season opens in Labasa

THE 2018 sugar crushing season has started at the Labasa Fiji Sugar Corporation mill.

Tui Macuata Ratu Wiliame Katonivere launched the crushing season and acknowledged FSC’s executive management efforts to bring about change and progress in the industry.

“ FSC adopted a new five year strategic plan which steers the new direction for the company making Cane Development as our core business,” he said.

“As a current board member for FSC, I am very pleased today to see how elements of this strategic plan are panning out.

“There is a new wave of optimism in the industry and all stakeholders are collaborating to bring about necessary improvements.”

Ratu Wiliame said the Labasa Mill contributed around 44 per cent of total sugar tonnage which was significant adding the company acknowledged that the growth will come from the North.
