Call to regulate marketing, advertising targeting children

Listen to this article:

THERE is a great need to regulate marketing and advertising targeting children.

This was highlighted by sports medical specialist, Dr Krishant Naidu while presenting on the topic of childhood obesity at the Fiji College of General Practitioners conference at the Warwick Fiji Resort in Sigatoka.

“Much effort needs to be made to control market and advertising aimed at children,” Dr Naidu said.

He said processed foods might be cheaper, but it was not healthy.

“Increasing physical activity in a diet focused on whole foods should be promoted.”
