Namaka Public School has retained its overall title at the Nadi Primary Schools Athletics Competition after another dominant performance at Prince Charles Park in Nadi yesterday.

Head of School Arvin Kumar praised the collective effort of the athletes, coaches, school management, staff and parents following the school’s successful campaign.

Kumar said he was grateful to the Almighty for blessing the team with the strength and determination to achieve another memorable result.

“I am very, very elated this evening because these are four bits for our school,” Kumar said.

He said the achievement reflected the hard work and commitment of everyone involved in the school’s athletics programme.

“The hard work of the coaches and, in fact, the entire team that leads the school management board, all scholars and, of course, the parents, they paid off,” he said.

Namaka dominated both the girls and boys divisions, underlining its strength across the two-day competition.

In the girls division, Namaka claimed 14 gold, 12 silver and five bronze medals to finish at the top of the standings.

Buruwa Youth Memorial School finished second with eight gold and three silver medals, while Nadi Airport School secured third place with seven gold, one silver and two bronze medals.

Namaka continued its dominance in the boys division, winning 14 gold, 10 silver and six bronze medals.
