A bench warrant issued for Isaia Ledua after he failed to appear in the High Court in Suva today was cancelled after his lawyer told the court he had been arrested.

Mr Ledua’s case, involving an alleged break-in at the Queen Elizabeth Barracks armoury, was called before Justice Dane Tuiqereqere at 9.30 am today.

Mr Ledua was not present when the matter was called, prompting the judge to issue a bench warrant.

Justice Tuiqereqere had earlier reminded Mr Ledua to appear in court at the scheduled time.

However, his lawyer Jerry Dinati later appeared before the same judge and informed the court that Mr Ledua was arrested last night and was being held at Nabua Police Station.

Justice Tuiqereqere subsequently cancelled the bench warrant.

Senior Prosecutor Simione Seruvatu appeared for the State.

The judge adjourned the matter to September 17.
