Flying Fijians player Ben Volavola has become the latest ambassador for grassroots charity organisation EduFiji Kidz.
The 25-year-old Australian-born Fijian national said he was honoured to be part of a group that helped make a difference in the lives of Fijian children.
“When I was approached by Super Rugby Fijian player and fellow ambassador Patrick Osborne with the opportunity to join the EduFiji Kidz family to help make a difference in children’s lives back home, I jumped at the chance to help mould and create better opportunities for our kids in Fiji,” Volavola said.
“Understanding the lack of resources that kids and teachers in schools all over Fiji have, it was a chance for me to give back, once being a kindergarten and a primary school student at Veiuto Primary School in Suva.
“Being lucky enough to finish my primary school years in Sydney, Australia, I was able to receive a great education, which built a tremendous foundation for me for the rest of my schooling years.”
He said children in Fiji should be able to experience the same level of education he received without any barriers.
“My role as an ambassador is to be an example and hopefully inspire kids to strive for the best in regards to their education and opportunities.”
