Former Fiji Holdings Ltd (FHL) chief executive officer Mohammed Nouzab Fareed will remain in custody after the Chief Magistrate dismissed his application for release pending sentencing.
Chief Magistrate Josaia Waqaivolavola ruled that Fareed’s conviction meant he had lost his right to freedom of movement.
Fareed was convicted of two counts of indecent assault involving a young female subordinate. The court found he hugged, sniffed, and kissed the complainant without her consent during the first incident, and during the second incident in his office, sniffed her hair, kissed her forehead, touched her ear, and placed his hands around her chest without consent.
The complainant’s evidence was supported by an audio recording accepted by the court.
Sentencing, initially set for August 12, has been brought forward to August 7.
