THE Fiji 7s players have been warned of the distractions they will come across during the World Rugby HSBC Sevens Series tournament in Hamilton this weekend.

With Fiji aiming for a hat trick of titles in Hamilton, the side is expected to draw a big following with the large fan base in New Zealand.

Former New Zealand 7s player Karl Te Nana who was a guest at the McDonald’s Fiji’s Coral Coast 7s last week stated that Fiji has a successful track record in Hamilton and by playing in front of many of their fans it will be just like playing at home in Suva.

Fiji 7s coach Gareth Baber said the players had been advised to keep their mind on the job and keep their feet on the ground.

“You have to know what your job is in New Zealand,” Baber said.

“It is a tough place to go and play at the best of times. But certainly when you have a tag of being the reigning champion, you need to be humble about what to do.

“You have to make sure that you make every single effort to do your best.

“Any promise that we can make is that we will work to the best of our ability.”
