BA Women FC will look to take another step towards the knockout stage of the OFC Women’s Champions League 2026 when they face Papua New Guinea champions Hekari Women FC today in a crucial Group A encounter at the National Stadium in Honiara in the Solomon Islands.
The Fijian champions head into the match brimming with confidence after opening their campaign in emphatic fashion, thrashing hosts Henderson Eels FC 6-0 to move to the top of the group.
While the result handed Ba the perfect start to the tournament, today’s fixture is expected to provide a much sterner examination against one of the region’s most experienced clubs.
A second consecutive victory would put the Women in Black in a commanding position to qualify for the knockout stage.
Ba’s dominance in their opening match was evident from the outset, with the side racing to a 3-0 lead before halftime through Adi Reva, captain Luisa Tamanitoakula and Koleta Likuculacula.
The hosts’ hopes of mounting a comeback were further dented when Veronica Tolivaka was sent off just before the break, allowing Ba to capitalise on its numerical advantage.
The Fijian champions continued to dictate proceedings in the second half as Narieta Leba added a fourth, and Elesi Tabunase found the back of the net late in the contest.
Likuculacula then completed her brace in the closing stages to seal Ba’s biggest-ever victory in the OFC Women’s Champions League.
Beyond the six goals, Ba’s disciplined defending, composure in possession and clinical finishing highlighted a team determined to make a deep run in the regional competition.
Those qualities will again be tested today against Hekari, a side renowned for its experience and physical style of play at the continental level.
Victory would not only strengthen Ba’s chances of progressing to the semi-finals but also reinforce the confidence built from their commanding opening performance.
With momentum on their side and qualification within reach, the Fijian champions will be aiming to produce another disciplined display as they continue their pursuit of regional success.
