ILLEGALLY parked vehicles that force pedestrians onto the road will face enforcement action, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) has warned following a reported hit-and-run involving four children along Tacirua outside Suva.
The warning comes after a four-wheel drive allegedly struck the children last Friday.
LTA acting chief executive officer Makitalena Drova said the authority was aware of the incident but could not comment on the circumstances while a police investigation was continuing.
Ms Drova said the LTA would assist police if required.
The incident also raised concerns over reports that four vehicles travelling behind the suspected vehicle did not stop to assist the injured children.
The LTA urged motorists to remain alert and exercise greater caution around pedestrians, particularly in residential areas and villages.
Members of the public can report illegally parked vehicles by texting 582 or emailing the LTA.
