Attempted rape suspect opts to represent himself

A 49-YEAR-OLD man charged with one count of attempted rape yesterday waived his right to counsel and opted to represent himself.

Joeli Ralawa appeared before Magistrate Waleen George at the Suva Magistrate Court.

The alleged incident took place on March 10, 2012.

It is alleged Mr Ralawa attempted to rape a woman in a dark driveway in Nabua, Suva whilethe complainant was returning from buying BBQ.

The hearing continues tomorrow.
