THE Fiji Corrections Service (FCS) launched its Yellow Ribbon Arts Exhibition, showcasing the creative works of inmates under the theme, “Behind the walls – expression of art, identity and renewal”.
The exhibition was officially launched at the Grand Pacific Hotel on Thursday night, featuring artworks by seven inmate artists from the FCS Tagimoucia Art Gallery.
Among the featured artists was Aisake Qiolele, who was granted a presidential pardon last week after spending 21 years behind bars.
President Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu, who officiated at the launch, highlighted the importance of rehabilitation and providing meaningful pathways for people transitioning back into society.
The event brought together government ministers, diplomatic representatives, members of the arts community, partners and supporters of the Yellow Ribbon initiative.
While the launch was by invitation only, members of the public will have an opportunity to view the remaining artworks at the Fiji Arts Council.
