Top Fiji archers vying to book an Olympic Games spot begin on their final route to cement a placing next week. George Fong and Robert Elder, will compete in a total of seven national events beginning on February 7.
“World Archery Fiji will focus on national tournaments as qualifying events after the cancellation of the Oceania tournament which was supposed to be held last year,” said team Fiji chef de mission Patrick Bower.
“Both George Fong and Robert Elder are vying to represent Fiji and have yet to achieve their Minimum Qualifying Score (MQS) to travel to Tokyo.
“There will be seven national tournaments beginning next month and hopefully they will be able to achieve their the MQS required to represent Fiji at the Olympic Games.”
The first round of the World Archery Fiji nationals will be held at Saint Joseph Secondary School grounds next Sunday.
