The Fiji Rugby Union annual general meeting this year will be special as it commemorates the history win by our Fijiana Drua in the Super W competition.

FRU chief executive officer John ‘Connor said the AGM last year which was held in November, they presented to the women’s competition to be played this year following the bronze medal win from the Fijiana 7s team.

“The focus is on what we have achieved in terms of competition and what we can improve on in this season,” he said.

“Since we have just come out of COVID, we will strengthen our union competition.

“Its going to be a busy year for us as we look forward to the Fijiana Test, the Flying Fijians, the under-20, Fijian Warriors competition “According to our constitution our annual general meeting should be held at the end of April but last year we couldn’t due to the pandemic.

“As always we will look in to the annual report from 2021 and also address the issues that are raised from the unions.

“We’re also grateful that we will be having our AGM on the same day as the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua plays their first test match against Highlanders in Suva.

“They also provided tickets for the members of the councils to come and watch their match after the AGM.”

He spoke highly on the Fijiana Drua achievement after they defeated NSW Waratahs 29-10 in a Super W match at Cbus Stadium on the Gold Coast last weekend.

He said they had set a platform for our women in Fiji and is a turning point for young girls to set their pathways to play rugby.

The annual general meeting will be held at the Grand Pacific Hotel in Suva on Saturday.
