Over the past 90 years Motibhai has become a household name in Fiji. Specializing in wholesaling, retail, manufacturing, distribution, real estate, media and hospitality.

The story began in 1929 when late Mr. Motibhai Becharbhai Patel embarked on a journey from Bombay, India to Fiji. At the age of 24, Mr Patel initially worked for a Ba merchant until he ventured out to establish his own business.

In 1931 he opened a small grocery store in Kumkum, Ba and within a short time he gained loyal customers. In 1971, Motibhai group entered the retail business, acquiring Prouds retail in Fiji, and has now expanded internationally, opening stores in Papua New Guinea.

In 1982, Motibhai further diversified by acquiring Fiji Foods and becoming one of Fiji’s largest manufacturers and producing quality products such as Golden margarine and Golden range of spices.

In 1999, Motibhai began producing what is now one of the most popular soft drinks in the country.

Sprint, which is known for its refreshing taste and delectable flavours.

In September 2010, Motibhai further diversified and entered the media industry by acquiring The Fiji Times to become fully local owned.

Later in 2014, the Group became master franchisees of the international chain Burger King, entering the quick service restaurant business.

Motibhai’ s success is not happenstance. It is rooted in the founding virtues and vision of our founders nurtured through relationships with customers, stakeholders, employees and communities.

Today, 95 years later, Motibhai Group is a diversified corporate organisation with a wide range of portfolios, and producing goods for the people of Fiji, the Pacific and beyond.
