THE Most Reverend Dr Winston Halapua, Bishop of the Diocese of Polynesia and the primate of the Anglican Church in Aoteroa, New Zealand and Polynesia was farewelled today after eight years of service.
Many gathered at the Holy Trinity Cathedral in Suva today for the farewell of Archbishop Halapua and his family.
Archbishop Halapua was also bestowed the title Archbishop in Emeritus by the most reverend Philip Richardson on behalf of the general senate standing committee today.
“This is a sign of our respect for you and also a challenge to you, a challenge to represent as only you can , the challenges of this planet as humankind creating, you have been a voice for the oceans and you have been a voice for the people of the Pacific,” Archbishop Richardson said.

The most reverend Don Tamihere from New Zealand will take over the reigns as the new Archbishop for the Diocese of Polynesia.
Archbishop Halapua and his family will now be moving to the United Kingdom where he will be based at the Cambridge Theological Federation.
