As the newly-appointed Head of Department for Physical Education (PEMAC) at Dudley High School, Navitalai Naivalu is determined to focus on the development of the students.
Despite the unfavourable weather, over 400 athletes participated in the school’s inter-house events at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva yesterday.
Having previously worked as a PEMAC teacher at Suva Grammar School for 10 years, Naivalu brings a wealth of experience to his new role.
He is confident in the abilities of the athletes at his new posting and is eager to work with them to improve before upcoming competitions such as the Zone and Coca-Cola Games.
“We have a lot of great talent and good athletes, I know we will improve and do better,” he said.
Naivalu plans to take over 100 athletes to the zone competition, aiming to make a strong impression.
He understands that there is much work to be done but is committed to taking it one step at a time and focusing on the development of the new students.
“I know we have a lot to work on, just taking it one step at a time, working on the new students and hoping to do our best.
“The support of the old scholars has been greatly appreciated, as they have provided encouragement and a lively atmosphere during events.
