Opposition MP Salote Radrodro says she informed former acting secretary general to Parliament Viniana Namosimalua of her move to Namulomulo, Bua, in a letter as was the procedure regarding relocation.

The Social Democratic Liberal Party MP said this while taking the stand to give evidence in her trial initiated by the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) in the High Court in Suva yesterday.

Mrs Radrodro said she asked one of the support staff member in the Opposition office to find out from the secretary general the required processes or procedures she had to follow if she was to relocate.

She said she was told to write a letter to the secretary general to inform her that she wanted to relocate and provide a letter from a community leader.

Mrs Radrodro said she followed the advice given to her, and the documents she submitted to the secretary general’s office were accepted without question.

She told the court she originally had her Tacirua Heights property as her permanent place of residence on the original Member of Parliament Declaration Form (MPDF) that she filled out in December 2018.

She also said in June 2019 she filled another declaration, this time putting down Namulomulo Village, Bua, as her permanent place of residence as she had moved there.

Mrs Radrodro told the court she and her husband had a house built in Namulomulo Village in 2000.

She said her mobile phone records, accessed through the Vodafone Fiji Search Warrant report, justified her movements on a calendar prepared by the defence, which verified her location at particular times before she returned to Namulomulo Village.

The trial continues today.
