The Fiji Football Association has cancelled all its football matches for the next 14 days.

Fiji FA chief executive officer Mohammed Yusuf said it was done to comply with the directives given by Government yesterday.

“All football matches and competitions have been cancelled until May 8-9,” he said.

“The Digicel Premier League, Digicel Senior League, Digicel Women’s Super League, Digicel Women’s and Men’s Senior League including the Digicel Girls and Boys League, have been deferred for the next three weeks.”

Yusuf said the deferment would also apply to all the grassroots programs at the ten centres which took place every Saturday.

The Cuvu, Nadroga man clarified the last round of the first leg of DPL matches will be held on May 8-9. That is a week after the mandatory 14-day lock-down period finishes.

“Please, adhere to all the health and safety guidelines set out by the relevant authorities.

“We need to support Government so that everyone is safe. There will be no local football matches for the next two weeks.”

The DPL will commence a week before the annual Fiji Football Association Cup (Fiji FACT) that will be hosted by current DPL leaders, Viti Water Flow-sponsored Lautoka Football Association.
