FIJI will always be home for members of the Reade family who gathered in Macuata yesterday for a reunion.

Families travelled from abroad to be part of the reunion held at Naivevu Estate on the coast of Naduri.

The eight sisters and two brothers, children of Alec and Alice Reade, gathered at the estate with their families for the celebration.

Josephine Nair — the eldest of the siblings, who lives in Australia — said after the death of their mum seven years ago, the sisters decided to have a reunion.

“And after seven years, then we all come together again as siblings and it’s just so good to be back home,” she said.

“Some of us have migrated and moved overseas, but Fiji will always remain our home.

“As soon as we touched down on Fijian soil this week when we arrived, we just knew we have come home.

“It’s a different feeling altogether and we feel belonged because we know we are back at home.”

Mrs Nair said the reunion provided an opportunity for the younger generation to strengthen their bond and get to know each other.

“It’s the older ones who know each other, but we need our children and grandchildren to know each other and to keep that close family bond,” she said.

“It’s a week’s program and we are all happy to be back at home.”

The family members will return to their homes next week.
