The wind is picking up in Sogobiau and areas near the district of Nadogo, Macuata, as STC Harold edges closer to the country.
Tui Nadogo Ratu Ilisaniti Malodali said as of 6am today, they experienced swells in waters around the village of Sogobiau.
Ratu Ilisaniti said villagers had already prepared yesterday, securing their homes by tying them down with ropes and securing shutters.
He said the natural disaster emergency committee in their village had been activated yesterday.
