TD04F: Udu villagers advised to move inland

Listen to this article:

VILLAGERS living along the shores of Udu Point have been advised to move inland.

The elders of Wainiika Village, Cakaudrove, met this afternoon to discuss safety measures as they prepare for the tropical depression that is expected to cross through Vanua Levu tomorrow.

Elder Saula Tuiqalau said nearby villages had done the same.

“We’re contacting each other and have advised villagers living on the shores to move to village halls because the waves usually rise during a cyclone,” Mr Tuiqalau said.

“We have prepared food supply and water for the evacuation centre.

“Villagers know where to move if the situation gets worse.”

The current path of TD04F lies across the Dogotuki area, Natewa Bay and across to Taveuni.
