TODAY marked the official inauguration of the Pacific Research Centre for the prevention of Obesity and Non-Communicable Diseases(C-POND).

Fiji’s Minister for Health and Medical Services Dr Ifereimi Waqainabete said this was the first for the region.

“This recognition places the college and Fiji in the forefront of global and regional health development, particularly in the areas of obesity prevention and control,” Dr Waqainabete said.

He said the Pacific Research Centre for the Prevention of Obesity and Non-Communicable Diseases(C-POND) had been designated as a World Health Organization collaborating centre.
