THE grid extension project for Navutu, Lomaivuna, and nearby settlements in Naitasiri is estimated to cost about $1.6million.

Revealing this in Parliament, Minister for Infrastructure and Transport Jone Usamate said the project should be completed by June this year.

There are about 108 houses that will benefit from the project.

“Once again, the grid extensions, the poles are there, it is just that the house wiring and connection is in progress,” Mr Usamate said.

He also noted that the grid extension project to Waibau settlement in Naitasiri was progressing.

He said the project would cost $360,000 for a population of 376.

The settlement comprises 69 houses.

Mr Usamate said house wiring had been done and the project should be completed by April.
